COI Inspections in Wulguru

What is a COI

A COI in Queensland stands for a Certificate of Inspection. Wulguru Automotive provides Certificates of Inspection for light vehicles such as Taxis, Ubers limousines and booked hire vehicles, which are subject to a scheduled inspection to ensure that they meet the minimum safety standards. The issuance of a COI is contingent on the vehicle passing the inspection.

To maintain registration for your COI vehicle, it is imperative that you possess a valid COI at all times, unless exempted. Without a current COI, renewal of your registration is not possible. Thus, it is recommended that you arrange for your vehicle inspection and address any defects well before the expiration date. Planning ahead will save you the inconvenience of delayed registration.

In order to facilitate proper inspection of the components, the vehicle should be devoid of excessive grease and presented in a clean state. To avoid the inconvenience of a re-inspection, it is advisable to thoroughly examine the vehicle for any faults and rectify them before submitting it for a COI.

How long is a COI valid for?

A Certificate of Inspection (COI) holds a validity of 12 months, but may be terminated either by the Department of Transport and Main Roads or the registered operator. For a Heavy Primary Production Vehicle with registration concession, a COI will be valid for a period of two years post the application of registration concession. However, the initial COI issued prior to the registration concession is only valid for a period of 12 months.
